Just Bring Your Imagination…

Early morning, Saturday. January’s Wolf Moon waning as a new day began to lift over the hills. Coffee had been made and sipped. The house was quiet except for the contented snores of the Brittany Spaniel curled and comfortable beside me on the couch. Casey, my daughter’s family dog provided an armrest while I typed this morning.

A children’s small wooden table adorned with tea party necessities in view. A tea pot, cups and saucers just waiting for my 3-year-old granddaughter to pull up a chair bringing only her imagination.

My kitchen counter sprinkled with baby bottles and a pacifier. A lilac-colored teething ring too. I smiled as I poured another cup. Six months old already our Josephine. Endless smiles and deep dimples. Pure joy.

The Vermont weather was unpleasantly sporty this past Friday but fortunately travel was fine. Our daughter and son-in-law with our two young granddaughters arrived for the weekend. A flurry of activity with the unpacking of a family was underway. My husband Jon and I with words unspoken divide and conquer. He with our granddaughter Joey and I with my buddy Belle.

Jon eagerly lifts Joey out of her car seat. Holding her close they walk from room to room. Ellie Belle entered the house happy and excited. We go to the living room nearly immediately as she looked for the toys she knows will be…
