Vermont Living…

A run to start the day. 38 degrees with blue sky. Over a mile run up, taxing. The ride home, nature was on display. A long view filled with sun kissed hilltops. An explosion of green had filled the rolling landscape. Trees bursting in golden and vibrant greens. The quiet of an early morning run cradled me. My heart rate slowed, as I put one foot in front of the other. My soul, nourished…

The workday was filled with all things art. Starting new pieces, finishing others. My upcoming summer exhibit has kept me focused and busy. The studio is bursting with new images. I am wanting to give the viewer a different visual experience as I consider what paintings I hope to include. I think nonstop about this show…

The clock strikes 5pm and today I honor the traditional end of a workday. I don’t do so often but today I would act in Fred Flintstone style. Residual paint was cleared, and brushes set to soak. Paintings on the drying rack. As I reached to turn the lights off, I paused and looked around. I had worked hard…

As I left my studio my husband was also finishing his workday. Ice Cream he asked? My response was immediate, yes! The White Cottage Snack Bar in Woodstock had just reopened for the season. We have our favorite flavors but what we truly love is that the Snack Bar overlooks the Ottauquechee River. We join another couple who has had the same idea. We sit near them but not close. This is Vermont we cherish our space and the nature that surrounds us.

Each couple softly chats while enjoying a 70-degree day and a cone. One is made aware of the wafting smell of burgers cooking. A new season is punctuated. Suddenly startled by a loud splash we spy a Mallard Duck that had plunged into the river below us. Tail feathers shaking as it began its ride on the swift current. A solo swim. The water crystal clear as it flowed over rocks and stones. Forcefully splashing on larger rocks. Rugged yet graceful. Vermont living…
